The Women on Boards event is an annual panel discussion focused on providing the necessary tools and knowledge for serving as a director. Our exceptional panelists are business leaders who have the experience of serving on for-profit and not-for-profit boards. The role of women on boards continues to evolve, as has all other leadership roles for women in business. In today’s corporate climate of increasing scrutiny of board governance, Board of Directors are being held more accountable than ever. Board composition is being closely watched. CEOs and directors are frequently broadening their search for new board members to include women and minorities. Currently, women only represent 14.7% of the membership of Fortune 500 company boards but new expectations for board members of all organizations are creating new possibilities for women. Topics of discussion include: the changing role of women on boards, what boards are looking for in board candidates, how to position yourself to find board opportunities, and what makes a credible board member.
